Scott Scharf, DDS, has been helping people improve their smiles in the western suburbs of Minneapolis for over 23 years.  Upon graduating with a dental degree from the University of Minnesota, he started Xenium Dental in Plymouth MN.  In 2003, he opened a new, state-of-the-art facility in Plymouth and renamed his practice Northwoods Dental.

This new state of the art facility now has four dentists and they all emphasize the traditional patient-physician relationship while also seeking to educate their patients on advances in oral care technologies.

There have been many technological advances in dental technology in recent years.  Northwoods Dental stays on the cutting edge of these advances and uses tools like the Biolase MD, Diagnodent and Invisalign.

The Diagnodent is a laser that allows the dentists to check on tooth density without having to use the sharp pick and “poke & prod” method of locating decay.  The Biolase MD is another type of laser that gives dentists the ability to remove decay and old fillings without the use of novacaine.

Invisalign is a cutting edge method of straightening teeth invisibly.  This is a great advancement in cosmetic dentistry because it allows people to keep a nice smile while their teeth are being straightened.
